The Isle of Wight Conservative Association has confirmed that Bob Seely MP has been adopted as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for the new constituency of Isle of Wight West.
Mr Seely will represent the Conservative Party in this constituency in any General Election which takes place from July 2023 onwards – once the new boundaries have taken effect.
Currently, Bob represents the entire Isle of Wight but changes to the boundaries mean the Isle of Wight will, in future, be represented by 2 Members of Parliament.
The decision for Bob to stand as the Tory candidate in the West was made at a meeting in Newport on Friday (3rd February).
Bob Seely MP has said:
“I am delighted to have been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the Isle of Wight West constituency, and I would like to thank the appointing committee for their support.
“Soon, the Island will have two Members of Parliament – one for West and one for East. I live in the Isle of Wight West constituency so it’s the natural choice for me.
“Naturally, I am disappointed to be losing the opportunity to represent the whole Island following the next General Election but, if I am given the honour of being re-elected, I will work with the MP for Isle of Wight East to ensure that we collectively speak up for the Island as a whole, in the same way I have done since 2017.
“For now, I will continue to represent the whole Island in equal measure until the next General Election.”
A Conservative parliamentary candidate for the new constituency of Isle of Wight East will be selected in due course. A number of people are expected to put their names in the hat including journalist and Parish Councillor Harriet Hadfield, Conservative leader Councillor Joe Robertson, Isle of Wight CPRE Trustee Ian Wellby and Isaac Farnbank.
Harriet Hadfield was the 1st Conservative candidate to announce her intention to stand for the new Isle of Wight East seat. She says:
“Huge congratulations to Bob on his selection – thoroughly well-deserved for an MP who’s been fighting hard for the Island since 2017.
“Now the focus for Conservatives will be on the East side of the Island, where members will be asked to choose who they think is best-placed to return a Conservative victory in the East.
“I’m very much hoping to work alongside Bob as the two Conservative candidates on the Isle of Wight at the next election – fighting for Islanders and ultimately doubling our fire-power in Westminster.”

I’m assuming that West Wight is less directly affected by the sewage he and his party have recently voted to keep pumping into the sea. So good luck with that Mr Sewage. Sorry – sausage. Sorry again – Seeley.
Did you mean Mr sewage
How can an MP of an Island vote to allow water companies to dump raw sewage in the rivers and sea. After 60+ they will not get my vote. Heard today MP’s are trying to cover their backs when they loose their seats. If MP’s did a good job for their constituents they wood be re-elected. Sadly this Government hasn’t carried out its promises and is bringing in laws ie Net Zero, Digital currency which were not in the manifesto
Waste of money, waste of air, waste of a vote.
Happy to have the chance to vote against the useless windbag.
Might be able to do a good job, if he could pull his head out his own ass
He’s had plenty of time to extract it with no success.
Dear Truth And pull his head out of the senior ministers ar$es as well,….. Boris, Lis to name but a few
Sad to say this but: Unless the Conservatives wake up their ideas and do something drastic soon they are very likely to get slaughtered at the next election. On that basis it looks like the Island will soon have two non Conservative MPs?
We can only hope. But it won’t happen unless the opposition candidates co-operate. What chance that?
as he only had half a sausage in seaview in May 2020,…(lockdown BBQ)
perhaps he’s hoping that by standing for MP for West Wight, he’ll be able to go to a BBQ & get the other half sausage & from then on be known as ‘Whole Sausage Seely’ LOL
think Baldrick to Black Adder… “I have a cuning plan my lord”
Don’t trust him. Look at them eyes.
At least we’re to be spared Cllr Robertson.
Just shows what the blue-rinsers think of their compatriots, though: despite Bob’s outstanding record (not) they still think he’s the best man for the job – well, their job, anyway.
Please, please, please, opposing candidates: get together and displace these useless Tories!
Absolutely…..the Greens and Lib dems really need to lend their vote to Labour,
Only because it was Labour that came second last time round.
# TAX CORPORATE GREED
I like the irony that in the picture he appears to be standing in East Wight (Ryde?) to make this announcement.
Hes received thousands and thousands in donations I wonder what back handed deals he done?
Shame someone didn’t donate a brain or some common decency.
Still can’t understand why we need 2 MPs for our little island????
1 cost’s enough and is as useless as a chocolate teapot on a summers day !!!!!
How about stopping our useless council wasting tax payer’s money on the council office????
Electric car’s floating bridge, painting the lift in shanklin ???
Putting up parking charges, killing off the little bit of Newport that is left !
Ryde will be next due to cost’s
..
As previously stated we the cash cow’s don’t have elastic wage pkts….
Because our ‘little’ island covers 146.8 square miles and has about 142,000 people living on it (excluding tourists). This is over double the average number of constituents for the UK making our voice in parliament less than half as loud as it should be.
Having this extra MP will resolve that imbalance. (Though our voice will still only be a third as loud as the tiny Scottish and inner London constituencies!)
NO NO don’t vote for him get the corrupt seeley out for the sake of of this beautiful island and our families and friends DONT VOTE FOR HIM
I wonder if any labor strong holds got split in two? Also, he is stood on Ryde beach, which I think is Isle of Wight east?
In my view he has no interest in helping Island residents. Contact his predecessor Andrew Turner, and he would soon visit you to discuss your problems.
All Seeley does is write condescending letters.
Who is this person? He seems vaguely familiar but I can’t think why.
Oh yeah I remember, he’s a complete waste of air.
We dont need bob choc fire guard seely anyway.bloody useless
Come next election either vote for public services or vote Tory. Choice is yours.
You mean more silly jobs and community greening officers? Woke warrior’s that do nothing. They are all a waste of space. Hopefully Reform will stand.
So do I.
Hopefully enough loonies will vote for them to split the right-wing vote sufficiently for a decent left-of-centre candidate to win.
When has he ever represented a square foot of The Island for Islanders? Masonic chums won’t be enough to save you Seldom Seen in their territory of West Wight, your a deluded twunk!.
CON-servative, speaks for itself
Is this a joke? He doesn’t live in west wight he rents a house there and is barely there! And as for representing the island what an absolute laugh, the only thing he represents is himself and whatever he thinks will get him a cabinet job the quickest. Standing for WW because he knows it’s mostly populated by old codgers who would vote for a half a sausage if you put a blue rosette on it!
He must be delighted that he has only half the Island (should he be re-elected) Means he can do even less than now.
I think it’s really sad how rude so called adults are in their comments. Most of them are incorrect, which tells me that they haven’t a clue so they must just be nasty people who think people will be impressed by their bad manners.
It isn’t “bad manners”, Jon.
It’s anger.
Anger at a man who promised much and delivered less than nothing. Anger at a man who talks the talk in his press releases but regularly shafts us when he votes with his party (and in the interests of his political career) instead of Islander.
Turner was a useless MP. I was glad to see the back of him. What I didn’t expect was him to be replaced by a man who is so self serving that he is worse than useless. Seely is actually detrimental to the Isle of Wight, He sees his constituents as a means to an end rather than people he actually works for.
Do you remember that when Silly Sausage Seely first stood as an MP he promised to open an international art gallery on the island and open a University of the Isle of Wight?
This man Seely has little of no interest in the Island’s affairs; he has a fat comfortable majority, thanks to the indolent island sheep who’d vote for the corpse of Jimmy Saville if his ghost sported a blue rosette. Seely is full of p**s and wind.
Well done Bob !!! Stick with the only constituency that the Tory ars”oles will probably do ok in as (am not tarring you with same brush) the safest Tory seat in the UK ! Not up for a fight, Not sticking up for Islanders ! Another Tory just after looking after one thing….. Himself !! Come on everyone let’s at least have MPs who live or have lived on the Island, they might at least understand the problems we encounter !!
He could soon be out of a job!
I honestly can’t wait for Liebar to get in at the next general election.
I can sit smugly in my armchair (probably dieing of cold and ageist insults) while all the benefit (sorry, socialist) voters don’t get their extra fag, beer and tattoo fund as expected that Starmer will promise and then find their untaxed and uninsured cars being taken off the road as Net Zero target has superglued them to their immediate, lock downed location.
People who continue to vote conservative are a bit like monty python’s black knight. You are still laughing despite being well and truly shafted. Come on greenies, give something to the sway the hard right that infest the island.
Only chose West Wight as that is where all the the old people live that vote for the Tory’s
Actually, Bob is on a bit of a sticky wicket. The East constituency has a greater proportion of die-hard Tories than the West.
West may be large but also includes areas of deprivation like Gunville and Freshwater and a good proportion of the homes in the wealthier areas are owned by non-residents who won’t be voting here.
Just don’t send him over here to the East!
If half sausage Seely was that dedicated to West Wight he should have had his photograph taken on a West Wight Beach
I WON’T BE ALLOWED TO VOTE THIS YEAR, BECOUSE I HAVE NOT GOT ANY IN DATE I.D.
Would have voted labour………shame on this Government !
Thank God I live in the East!
