2 people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a ‘savage attack’ on a man in his 50s on a side street in Sandown on Tuesday night.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called to Albion Road at 23:18 on Tuesday night after a man was found with serious head injuries in a pool of blood.
The area was cordoned off between Albert Street and High Street with a gazebo erected to preserve evidence left at the entrance to an alleyway. Police have since left the scene.
Now, detectives investigating the incident have made 2 further arrests.
According to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, a 25-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, both from Newport, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of Class A drugs and possession of Class B Drugs. The duo remain in custody at Newport Police Station at this time.
A 26-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of cannabis, has been bailed with conditions until 15th February while the investigation continues.
The victim, who Island Echo understands to be a 54-year-old man from Ventnor, remains in hospital.
Officers continue to carry out enquiries, and ask anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident and witnessed anything, heard something, or has any information, to contact police on 101, quoting 44220465235. All about drugs again. Is Sandown the drug centre of the island?
The scum bag dealers live in Newport I think you’ll find.
Yeah sandown is just home to users and children not raised properly
I didn’t mention about where they lived, iam talking about where the offence to place.
Scummy drugs AGAIN. Why can’t all these low life crawl back under their rocks and stay there. No place for these types to be walking around free in society.
Drugs ruin lives. Drug dealers ruin lives.
Being in possession of class A and class B drugs might mean they had one or two escatasy pills on them and a bit of weed or block. It doesn’t mean their dealers and it doesn’t mean this incident was about drugs either.
Interesting how people down vote a factual comment ( not an opinion) when it doesn’t fit with their own preconceived narrative isn’t it.
You sound like a druggie Xp49
Ha ha lol
Never experimented in your teens and twentys then?
Must of been boring
Do you think undercover police should be deployed in sandown Newport ect thumbs up if you agree ?
