A Ryde-based community choir is inviting new members to join in the run-up to Christmas as it prepares for a series of festive performances across the Isle of Wight.
Aspire Singers is a friendly, inclusive group that meets on Tuesday evenings at Aspire Ryde. Over the past 4 years, the choir has brought together people of all ages and abilities to socialise, sing, and perform at local events including Riverfest, the Ventnor Fringe Festival and other community gatherings.
Their repertoire includes musical theatre classics, pop favourites from across the decades, and an ambitious rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
With Christmas approaching, the group is encouraging newcomers to join their weekly sessions to take part in festive events such as the Aspire Christmas Fayre and carol singing around town, including visits to care homes.
Choir leader Jess Ong has said:
“Aspire Singers is a lovely, friendly group, open to all ages and abilities. It has become a bit of a lifeline for some of our members, who can let off steam and take a break from their busy lives by singing their hearts out with others. Everyone always leaves feeling lighter, with a smile on their face.”
From Tuesday 21st October, the choir will meet in the Community Hall at Aspire Ryde, Trinity Buildings, Dover Street, from 17:30–19:30.
