A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident in Sandown during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Police were called to Fitzroy Street shortly after midnight following reports of an assault.
Officers discovered a man in his 50s had sustained injuries to his head.
A 28-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of affray and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody at this time.
Scenes of crime investigators have been in attendance at the property – a hostel for the homeless.
It was at the end of November that forensic officers were sent to the same property after a 26-year-old man was seriously assaulted.

A 28 year old against someone in their 50s, that’s brave.
We all have enough problems to worry about these days, life is short without this…
Perhaps the Housing Association ‘managing’ this property should be held to account for housing vulnerable adults with violent drug/alcohol users! I’m sure it pays well!!!!
Think you got your name wrong. Did you mean The ‘Coracle’, paddling round in circles.!!
Are you the real Oracle.?
Yes sir.
Isn’t that supported housing? Where’s the support? Why aren’t they kicked out? I bet it was the same bloke as last time.
Well if it is, then Housing Association should definately be challenged!
The previous report about this place says it”s run by Two Saints, supported by Cllr Clare Mosdell. Says it all really. Residents safety clearly isn’t paramount.
There has been nothing but problems here since last year when the charity owning the building changed. It did brilliant work when it was managed by real world trust. Now it is housing vulnerable people with criminal, Cllr Clare Mosdell is well aware and doesn’t care about Sandown residents or the people housed there. All she cares about is getting her face in the paper. There are major safeguarding issues here, and the place should be closed before someone actually dies in that building, and the way things are going we won’t have long to wait. My heart goes out to the poor people that are really struggling and seeking help being housed in this environment. Clare Mosdell and housing first/two saints should be deeply ashamed, and already have blood on their hands.
A hostel for the homeless.
YET most ‘all’ on here were saying how lovely they are, and just victims of society.
I think not, said so then, and now.
Homeless for a good reason MOST of the time.
Always ‘exceptions’ of course, but then that is because they are just that, ‘exceptions’.
See life as it is.
YET we all have to pay more on our coun cil tax for ‘adult social care’
The gutter is too good for some of them. For the muck in it, eventually gets washed away, whereas this is kept all it’s worthless life. Shame CV wasn’t more selective.
Fully agree Pins
There are temporary decent homeless who are just unlucky and with help will be fine.
Then we have a growing number of those who need removing from decent society, and should be housed at the tip, to pick through others waste to earn their keep or starve.
It is easy to ‘see’ which bracket the homeless ‘belong too’ in an instant in most every case.
yep – filth like that needs to be in a ditch somewhere and houses like that used for those who have unfortunately been victim of circumstance and need a safe warm place to stay, whilst they get back on their feet again.
sadly the filth that live there, are most probably ex offenders of one sort or another, as well as parasitic junkies and alco’s………..hand wringing do gooders, like mosdell think that supporting doss houses is somehow cathartic, must have a long hard look in the mirror and ask herself, who does she really care about.
Just reflects Sandown as a town
A little harsh on Sandown.
