Red Funnel is continuing to operate a revised timetable on its East Cowes-Southampton vehicle ferry service today (Friday) – and is likely to continue doing so into the weekend – due to ongoing repairs to Red Falcon.
All week the cross-Solent operator has been running at reduced capacity, with just 1 out of 3 ferries available, as a result of Falcon being pulled from service.
Another 12 vehicle ferry sailings have been cancelled for today including the 0430, 0730, 1030, 1330, 1630 and 1930 from Southampton, as well as the 0600, 0900, 1200, 1500, 1800 and 2100 from East Cowes.
Red Funnel says that engine timings need realigning ahead of sea trials, which are not due to take place until Saturday at the earliest.
Those crossing the Solent should expect disruption – with the realistic prospect that the service may be suspended in its entirety at any moment if Red Osprey develops a fault.
“Those crossing the Solent should expect disruption” – understatement of the decade!
Somebody must have bought a new book of excuses.
just put it down..
Just think how much more profit they can make by only running one ferry rammed full. Or am I being cynical?
