Police on the Isle of Wight have made another arrest as part of an investigation into 4 indecent exposure incidents, the latest of which is said to have occurred just yesterday evening (Saturday).
The suspect, a 56-year-old man from Cowes, has been arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure offences and remains in custody at the current time.
The arrest comes after yet another broad daylight incident.
At somepoint between 17:30 and 18:00 yesterday (Saturday), a woman in her 20s saw a man indecently exposing himself on the cycle track between Cowes and Stag Lane.
This comes after previously reported incidents on the coastal path near Marsh Street, Gurnard, at around 16:30 on Thursday (29th June) and an exposure to and sexual assault against a 18-year-old girl on the cycle track at around 19:00 on Tuesday 27th June.
It has also been revealed tonight that on Monday 12th June a man indecently exposed himself to a woman in her 70s in woodland near Northwood Cemetery.
Chief Inspector Alex Charge has tonight said:
“We know that the local community will understandably be very concerned to hear of these reports, and we would like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to investigate the circumstances.
Article continues below this advertisement “These incidents have of course been very distressing for the people involved. We want you to know that this will not be tolerated by police.
“Our enquiries are still in their early stages and detectives are working hard to establish the full circumstances of each of these incidents. We will continue to investigate this as a priority over the coming days, following all lines of enquiry available, including CCTV scoping and speaking to witnesses.
“Our officers will remain in the area conducting enquiries and patrolling. Please do come and speak to them if you have any information or concerns.
“As we continue to investigate, we would like to hear from anyone who was on the cycle track between Cowes and Stag Lane yesterday evening (Saturday 1 July) between 5.30pm and 6pm. We would also still like to speak to anyone who was on the cycle track on the evening of June 27 and anyone who saw a man with a Jack Russell dog on the Gurnard coastal path on June 29.
“Were you in any of these areas around the time these offences occurred? Did you see anything that may assist our investigation? As our enquiries continue we are keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information.”
A 49-year-old man from Ryde, who was previously arrested in connection with these incidents, has been released from custody on conditional police bail to allow for further enquiries to take place.

UPDATE MONDAY – Police have confirmed that the 56-year-old from Cowes has been bailed until 2nd October pending further enquiries.
This sort of person needs to be dealt with by the public not the weak wishy washy courts.
They ought to be castrated and use it only to urinate through for the rest of time. Should that fail to work, then remove the lot and get them to sit to wee for life.

Maybe these guys were just urinating ? No mention of the Jack Russell – if man in custody hopefully police have ensured dog is looked after or they could find themselves in trouble for animal neglect – these guy’s arrested so far could be totally inocent. Any guy walking a Jack Russell could be targeted.

You talk rubbish, I didn’t say that – police have arrested two dog walkers so far, only because they were walking a Jack Russell,but welfare of pets are important and sure even victims wouldn’t want dog to starve or overheat locked in conservatory. Doubt if it is the same man for all events, but exposure and sexual assault need to be dealt with as this can progress to worse incidents – hope they catch them all.
I’m not sure quite what to make of all this alleged flashing going on.
I say that because I remember not so long ago reports of a man cycling naked round the UK and that was considered OK, for some reason. Likewise, there were photos of naked men at the Pride march in London in the national press the other day, and again nothing was said or done to stop them.
So, I suppose my question is, when does exposing your genitals in a public place become indecent exposure and the police get involved, and when is it deemed OK?
