The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air ambulance has landed on a playing field on Pan Estate this evening (Friday).
It was at 18:15 that the yellow and green helicopter touched down in Newport in response to a medical emergency.
Flying medics were alerted to the situation at just before 18:00.
Doctors and paramedics are now on scene alongside their colleagues from the Isle of Wight. Ambulance Service at an address on Furrlongs.
2 local ambulances are in attendance.
Crowds have gathered at the park to see the helicopter up close.
UPDATE @ 18:51 – The air ambulance has lifted from Newport and is returning to base at Thruxton Airport.
