The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed in the car park at Red Funnel’s Southampton terminal this morning (Tuesday) in response to a passenger suffering a medical emergency on board the Red Falcon.
Several vehicles from both Police and South Central Ambulance Service responded to the incident as passengers looked on, shortly before 11:30.
As a result of the incident, the 13:30 vehicle ferry from East Cowes was delayed and there is continued disruption to the Red funnel timetable with the 15:00 Red Funnel service is currently delayed by 45 to 60 minutes.
A spokesperson for Red Funnel has told Island Echo:
“Earlier today the emergency services were called to assist a passenger related medical emergency, on board the Red Falcon. We are currently managing minor disruption to our timetable and we do appreciate that this will disrupt people’s plans for today and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
UPDATE @ 17:12 – Red Funnel has confirmed that the Vehicle Ferry Service has returned to timetable.
