The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has airlifted a seriously ill patient to a mainland hospital from East Cowes this afternoon (Saturday).
The bright yellow and green helicopter landed in the marshalling yard of Red Funnel’s East Cowes terminal at just before 15:25 after staff quickly cleared vehicles from the area and held those disembarking the inbound ferry.
Island Echo is told that the casualty was conveyed to the awaiting air ambulance from behind the ferry terminal, in the area of the Venture Quay Boat yard.
It remains unclear at this time whether the patient has been injured or has suffered a medical episode.
The air ambulance has now taken off from the scene and the terminal has returned to normal.
