The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in Sandown this morning (Wednesday) in response to a medical emergency in the town.
2 flying medics have joined the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service at a residential property off Avenue Road, where an enhanced care paramedic and an ambulance crew are already tending to the poorly patient.
The air ambulance took off from its base at Thruxton near Andover at around 08:45 this morning, arriving overhead at 09:00.
After some time circling in the skies above Sandown, a suitable landing site was found at Fort Street Car Park.
The air ambulance crew are now on scene with the patient, where assessments and treatment is taking place.
UPDATE @ 10:07 – The air ambulance has now lifted off from Sandown and is returning to base.
The patient has not been conveyed by helicopter.
