The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has airlifted an individual to the mainland for further treatment following an incident at Duxmore, on the outskirts of Havenstreet.
Flying medics were scrambled from their base at Thruxton at around 10:30 this morning (Saturday), touching down in the vicinity of Duxmore Quarry – located on land to the north of The Downs – shortly before 11:00.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service also responded to the incident.
After an hour on the ground, the air ambulance lifted off and has since flown 1 person directly to Southampton General Hospital for specialist treatment.
It is the third mission to the East Wight for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance in just 48 hours, with the HEMS team responding to medical emergencies in Ryde Town Centre on both Thursday and Friday.
