A drink driver found to be behind the wheel whilst more than 3x the legal limit when he was stopped by Police has been handed a 3-year driving ban.
Joseph Balloch, 36, of Cardiff Road in Portsmouth, appeared before Portsmouth Magistrates Court last week (18th July) charged with drink driving on the Isle of Wight.
The court heard how on 17th June this year, on Ashey Road in Ryde, Balloch was stopped by Police whilst driving his Hyundai i10.
At the scene, a roadside breathalyser test was conducted which indicated a positive result – with an evidential reading 126 later returned at the police station – more than 3x the legal limit of 35.
Handing down their sentence, Magistrates banned Balloch from the roads for 36 months and ordered him to complete a 6-month alcohol treatment requirement and 20 rehabilitation days.
The 36-year-old was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge fee.

Well done, another Numpty off UK roads.
can’t understand why these 3 year bans are not giving to drug drivers, seems to be 1 year ban, surely it’s all substance abuse
5 year ban for all drink and drug drivers, and if they
break the rules and drive whilst disqualified
5 year prison sentence.
The country needs to get tough with such persons.
Thrice…good god…
Since he won’t be driving for at least three years the court should have ordered his car be crushed.
