UPDATED: 3 men and a RIB have been brought ashore by a yacht tonight (Friday) after breaking down mid-Solent.
Police have been called to the scene near to Sea View Yacht Club over concerns for the gentleman’s actions.
An eyewitness has told us that the 3 individuals are in drink and that the vessel broke down due to a flat battery, leaving them without a radio or starter motor.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are on scene and are dealing with the incident.
Seafarers were asked to keep an eye out for the vessel between Ryde and Seaview earlier on tonight.
UPDATE SATURDAY @ 00:05 – Ryde Inshore Rescue are now on scene with their Ryde Rescue 1 lifeboat.
They have been requested to tow the RIB to the mainland – it’s place of origin.
UPDATE @ 00:15 – The broken down RIB is now being towed to Hayling Island by Ryde Rescue. A crew member has been placed on board the casualty vessel to keep an eye on the 3 men.
