28 members of Wight Tri took part in the last event of the Wight Tri Winter Duathlon Series, the Chillerton Crucifier, which was made more enjoyable by the sunshine and hot temperatures, in comparison to last weekends’ torrential rain!
The competitors had a choice of either a short 1.5-mile run or a longer hillier run of 3.7-mile run and then either 1 or 2 laps of an 8.4-mile cycle route, taking in Chillerton, Chase, Bleak Down, Rookley and returning back to Chillerton, to start the 2nd run.
1st in the nominated event was super veteran Bill French, who completed the short runs and bike course in 1:15:15, just 15 seconds outside his nominated time.
2nd was Craig Wilson, 28 seconds over his 1:43:30 estimate for the long course bike and runs, with Glyn Jenkins in 3rd, who completed the short course in 1:03:39, 29 seconds outside his nominated time.
Sean Williams was the fastest Male time (1:39:45) for the long course with Jan Fletcher having a fantastic race, to take the fastest female slot in 1:53:36. Laura Abrook was the fastest for the short course in 55:03.
Thanks have been given to Russ Mellor of Cut Laser Cut for providing the event momentos and also to Chillerton Primary school for the use of their grounds.
