A 23-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and going equipped after Police responded to reports of a burglary in progress in Lake last night (Monday).
Officers were alerted to an ongoing incident at 19:56 when a member of the public reported a situation developing at an address on Cliff Path, between Sandown and Shanklin.
The suspect was subsequently detained by a member of the public ahead of the Police’s arrival.
When officers did arrive on scene, they arrested the 23-year-old and seized a rucksack full of tools and yellow pills.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the male has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, going equipped for burglary and possession of Class A drugs.
He remains in custody at Newport Police Station this morning.
The Police were delayed in getting there as they were on sirens coming from Sandown direction and had to use the diversion route, Fairway, Perowne, etc. The look on the driver’s face was amazing when they realised and stopped momentarily outside Tesco.

That the roadworks stopped the police from getting there quicker.

This is the low life type smack rat scum that is classed as ”vulnerable” and getting all the extra benefits from the DWP, while ”vulnerable” pensioners and the disabled get THEIRS stopped. Why is this waste of space pond life given so much priority and never asked any questions by the DWP like we are, about what benefits we are trying to get help with. They get benefits for snorting and swilling and everything for free, while we have to fight to get just the bare minimum to survive on. Those who have worked and paid in for years should be getting the priorities, WE are the vulnerable ones.
