Newport man Aaron Thomas, who admitted his third drug driving offence at just 20 years old, will be sentenced later this year.
Thomas, of Fairlee Road, appeared in Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday) charged with drug driving, no insurance, driving whilst disqualified, and failing to stop.
On 16th March, the 20-year-old was spotted by police driving his Honda Civic on Fairlee Road with no insurance. Officers attempted to stop him but Thomas didn’t comply. The court heard how officers recognised Thomas from previous offences.
Once they managed to stop him a roadside drugs wipe was taken which found 163mg/l of Benzoylegonine (cocaine breakdown product) in his system. The legal limit is 50mg/l.
Thomas was driving the vehicle whilst in the middle of a disqualification.
This is the third time he has appeared in court for a drug driving offence.
Due to the seriousness of the offending, the case was adjourned until 19th September this year. A pre-sentence report will be compiled for the next hearing.

There will never be a cure for stupid.
Until such Numpty’s are banged up, our roads
will never be safe.
This Numpty obviously doesn’t respect law and order
hence re-offending.
Lock him up and throw away the key! , do us all a
favour.
Back in March! It’s now July.
surely a pre sentence report isn’t needed due to his previous.
What is the chance he is still on the road out there, driving around? Was his car crushed, if not, what is he driving so we know what to avoid?
Wouldn’t surprise me, they should tag these
Numpty’s.
This man should be in line for a custodial sentence but for all sorts of reasons it will probably be suspended. Therefore he will walk. The bench should at least make an order to crush the car. Funny how people can find the money for cocaine whhen everyone is pleading poverty.
