2 teenagers have been pulled from the sea at Ryde after getting into difficulty just off the shore this afternoon (Wednesday).
HM Coastguard are on scene alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, which has mobilised 2 ambulances and an operational commander to the scene at Ryde Harbour.
It’s understood the teens were playing in the sea when they lost their footing and panicked. 2 members of the public on the beach quickly went to their aid.
Paramedics are checking over the casualties, who appear uninjured. However, secondary drowning is always a concern with such incidents.
The news comes just over 24 hours after an almost identical incident at Ryde, where a young boy was pulled out of the water by a local woman.
UPDATE @ 15:35 – Emergency services are now standing down from the incident.
The teenagers have been given a clean bill of health.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
