Police have released CCTV images of 2 suspects who they want to identify and speak with as part of an investigation into a robbery attempt in Newport.
Shortly after midnight on Thursday 23rd March – a month ago yesterday – a man in his 50s left the Wheatsheaf Pub on Pyle Street and walked up towards St James’ Street when he encountered 2 men standing near the junction of the road.
1 of the individuals demanded the victim’s phone before he was followed and punched in the face. This occurred between Santander and Pittis estate agents on St James’ Street.
The victim refused to hand over his phone, and was threatened with violence before being punched again. The attacker was called away by the 2nd man before both ran off towards the High Street.
Officers investigating would like to hear from anyone with information about this incident, or who can help them identify the 2 people pictured.

Hope so… BUT more than likely it would be the victim that ends up in Court for defending themselves, that’s the state of the Justice system now.

I hope somebody recognizes them and they are caught before they do it again. The police and the courts need to come hard on them. There needs to be zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour.

As sad as it is, alot of boys that go to prison learn more skills to reoffend and think it gives them more street cred. Maybe the army would be better, with no chance of leaving for their sentence, not so easy, gruelling routine, no choices.
Maybe prison works for some, but most it just temporarily takes them off the street for a while.
A spade across the spine would prevent them from doing this again. And likely prevent them breeding more clones to be even worse for the next generation
That would not solve anything. Violence breeds violence. A bit of hard labour might do some good.

Plenty of studies have shown that ex soldiers are more likely to commit crimes of violence than the general population.

Absolute filth these two. I certainly would not describe these two scum bags as ‘men’. Boys with zero manners and respect for the elderly or anyone else I would imagine. Truly hope they are recognised and their names given to the Police. Or better still, they get some other sort of justice from someone who recognises them!
More generation ‘entitled ‘ what gets me is, I and you reading this have paid for them from birth, our taxes have handed them a far better standard of education than we could have ever dreamt of, and many opportunities associated with being young and in education.
