Wightlink is advising of delays of up to 2 hours on its Fishbourne-Portsmouth car ferry service this morning (Monday) due to a mechanical issue with St Faith.
The cross-Solent operator has had to pull the ageing vessel from service due to an undisclosed mechanical problem.
With Victoria of Wight already out of action due to a refit, the former flagship St Clare is the only vessel left available to operate the busy route to and from the Isle of Wight.
Customers should expect delays throughout today but it is unclear if the disruption will continue into the rest of the week.

Total disaster for many, here now and delay is that some booked for 10am might not get on till 13-00 so 4hrs not 2hrs, can’t leave and come back as loose place in qué!. Expect they’ll make alot in Café today.
Poorly maintained old rust buckets!
It’s time they sold that ferry off it’s over 25 years or not far off
Once again, a pathetic service for Island people. We are just treated like second class citizens.
Again?
Bridges don’t break down. Just saying.
That’s what they deserve for being so greedy at half term, sorry for passengers but not Wightlink.
Why is VOW having another refit ? What was the Christmas debacle all about ? We were told that was its annual refit. These refits are becoming increasingly common !!
Useless trains unreliable ferries at outrageous prices, at least a bridge wouldn’t breakdown or get sick or strike. This is not a good future for residents or holidaymakers
We were delayed by 4hours 23minutes! When we asked about a free drinks voucher as per Wightlink website under ‘What happens if your ferry is delayed or cancelled’, we were told we didn’t qualify as ferry only running 23 minutes late! Explaining we were booked on 5pm ferry, we were told our ferry was changed to 9pm & therefore we did not qualify! We didn’t change the booking – Wightlink did!
