Green Isle of Wight CIC has secured £18,000 from the Department for Work and Pensions’ Household Support Fund to help Island residents keep warm and cut energy costs over the winter months.
The fund, which is managed locally by the Isle of Wight Council, will enable the organisation to provide free Energy Essentials Packs and home energy visits between now and March 2026.
Each pack will include practical items such as a heated throw, LED energy-saving bulbs, insulation tape and radiator reflectors, designed to make homes warmer and cheaper to run. Home energy visits will also be available, giving tailored advice, hands-on support and links to further help including Citizens Advice, Fairer Warmth and energy-saving grant schemes.
The scheme is open to households across the Isle of Wight who are in financial difficulty or keen to reduce energy bills.
Lisa Beaney, Managing Director of Green Isle of Wight, has said:
“We know how tough things are for many people on the Island right now.
“This funding means we can give practical, hands-on help to those who need it most – helping people stay warm, save money, and feel supported this winter.”
The Household Support Fund is distributed by Local Authorities across England to provide help with essentials such as food and utilities. The Isle of Wight Council is working alongside Town, Parish and Community Councils, as well as charities and community groups, to ensure the support reaches those most in need.
Residents who would like to request an Energy Essentials Pack or a free home energy visit can head to Green Isle of Wight directly for more details.

So in other words, more freebies for the druggies and dole bums who can’t be arsed to get a job. The more freebies people get the more the government will think “oh well charities will do our work” then tax people working more and more, makes me sick
The Country is in the worst state it’s ever been in.
