A young Islander is spreading festive cheer and encouraging kindness and connection this season through a heartwarming calendar initiative in support of the Isle of Wight Youth Trust.
Bobby Scudder is an 11-year-old student at Lanesend Primary School, has designed a Wellbeing Advent Calendar filled with 24 uplifting activities for families to enjoy together.
Each day offers a simple moment of joy, reflection, or togetherness – perfect for supporting mental wellbeing during the winter months.
Thanks to the generous support of BAE Systems, GKN, and Glanvilles Solicitors, Bobby’s Wellbeing Advent Calendars have been professionally printed and will be distributed across six Island primary schools: Northwood, Lanesend, Gurnard, St Francis, St Blasius, and Binstead. Alongside the calendars, Isle of Wight Youth Trust Wellness Journals will also be available in school receptions for a suggested donation of £2 each.
For those wishing to support the campaign further, both calendars and journals can also be collected from the Isle of Wight Youth Trust reception, where donations are warmly welcomed.
The Wellbeing Advent Calendar forms part of the Youth Trust’s wider Winter Wellbeing Campaign, which focuses on spreading hope and positivity during the holidays.
All proceeds will be processed through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, meaning every donation will be doubled, making twice the impact for young people across the Island.
Bobby has said:
“This campaign is about more than fundraising,”
“It’s about helping young people feel supported and connected during a time that can be tough for mental health. I hope the calendar brings a little light to families this winter.”
As part of the initiative, the Youth Trust team will also be delivering interactive assemblies in participating schools, sharing practical wellbeing tips and strategies, such as grounding techniques, through engaging activities and songs specifically designed for children. These sessions aim to give young people tools to manage stress and boost resilience during the festive season and beyond.
Paul Savill, spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Youth Trust.
“This project is a wonderful example of how creativity and community spirit can come together to make a real difference,” said
“We’re so proud of Bobby for his creativity and passion in leading this initiative and grateful to our corporate partners for helping bring it to life.”
