A 28ft yacht with no working VHF radio was towed into Yarmouth Harbour this morning (Wednesday) after losing its steering off the West Wight.
The National Coastwatch Institution at The Needles lookout were requested by Solent Coastguard to keep watch for the blue and white vessel, which was then located by the watch 2 nautical miles from the station and drifting with the current.
Yarmouth RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat was requested to launch at around 10:30 and tasked to locate the vessel before establishing a tow to take the vessel to safety.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team met with the skipper of the yacht at Yarmouth Harbour to offer safety advice.
