A yacht with a fouled prop and making little progress led to the first launch of the year for Cowes RNLI this evening (Sunday).
Cowes Lifeboat was tasked to launch at 17:40 following reports that a 37ft vessel, located east of the harbour entrance, had fouled its prop and was making little progress into the harbour under sail.
The lifeboat crew quickly had the boat rigged in an alongside tow and returned her to her mooring on the River Medina.
The incident was the first shout for lifeboat crewman Orry, who, as a harbour pilot, is used to dealing with larger vessels!
Solent Coastguard stood the search and rescue asset down and the lifeboat returned to the station just after 19:00.
