Bembridge RNLI’s inshore D-class lifeboat ‘Norman Harvey’ was launched at around 07:20 this morning at the request of Solent Coastguard after a 30ft sailing yacht run aground at the entrance to Bembridge Harbour.
The yacht, with 2 crew onboard, ran aground after straying outside the channel and ended up listing badly.
Although the lifeboat was quickly on scene, the yacht was well and truly stuck so the crew were taken ashore at the Duver Marina. The ‘Norman Harvey’ then returned to Lane End and was recovered by 08:00.
