Police are treating the death of a woman in her 40s, who was discovered at an address in Newport by young children, as unexplained.
Officers were deployed to a property at Berry Close, on Pan Estate, at 14:50 yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
It has been confirmed that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was responding to concerns for the welfare of a female.
Island Echo understands that young children had discovered a deceased woman, and alerted nearby neighbours.
Multiple units mobilised to the scene, alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. However, there was nothing that could be done to save the woman in her 40s and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed.
Police say the death is being treated as unexplained, and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
