UPDATED: Paramedics are attending to a woman who has been knocked down by a car on a zebra crossing in Ryde this morning (Friday).
Emergency services are currently in attendance at the top of Union Street, where a Vauxhall Astra has collided with a female pedestrian whilst turning into Union Street from Cross Street.
The casualty is being placed on a spinal board by rapid response paramedics whilst awaiting the arrival of an ambulance.
Union Street remains open to traffic from the Lind Street direction. Buses are diverting locally.
The woman is not thought to have sustained any life-threatening injuries.
UPDATE @ 10:30 – Union Street has now fully reopened to traffic from both directions.
The casualty has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport with serious injuries.
