More than 200 people a month are now turning to a free advice and support service in Ryde, with residents travelling from across the Isle of Wight to access the help on offer.
Ryde Information and Support Service (RISS), which is run by Ryde Town Council and based at Ryde Library, has seen growing demand since it was established in November 2024.
The service is marking National Advice Week, which began yesterday (Monday) and will continue through to Friday (23rd October).
National Advice Week aims to highlight the importance of accessible advice and support for local residents.
RISS has continued to expand its reach, with an increasing number of people travelling from outside Ryde to use the service.
The organisation has also recently registered with AdviceUK and secured a grant from the Ryde Neighbourhood Board, which will help it work towards full accreditation as an advice service.
Keith Sheldrake, RISS Service Manager, has said:
“RISS continues to develop its service to meet the needs of its clients. We are now registered with AdviceUK and have recently received a grant from Ryde Neighbourhood Board, which will enable us to gain full accreditation as an advice service.”
National Advice Week aims to raise awareness of the important role advice organisations play in helping people overcome challenges, understand their options and access the support they need.
The growing demand for RISS reflects the importance of having advice services available locally, with the team now assisting more than 200 clients every month.
RISS is open at Ryde Library on Mondays between 10:00-15:00, Tuesdays and Fridays between 09:00-15:00, the first Wednesday of each month between 17:00-19:00 and the first Saturday of each month between 10:00-12:00.
Residents can visit the service during these hours or contact the team on 07713 701382 or by emailing [email protected] for further information.
