A car has ploughed through a garden wall in Newport this afternoon (Friday).
The incident, involving a Vauxhall Corsa, has taken place on Drill Hall Road at the junction with Caesars Road.
Island Echo understands the female driver suffered a period of cramp in her foot seconds before the collision.
No one has been injured in the crash, which occurred shortly before 14:45.
The road remains open as normal.

Cramp in the foot stopped her from steering or using the hand brake. The isle of wight news is 24/7 car related recently. Every single day.
Everyone has forgotten how to drive! I nearly had two collisions in the way home from work today. Both were elderly people just not looking as they think the roads are empty still. Been driving to work throughout lockdown and it’s been lovely but now there are idiots back on the road!
It wasn’t an elderly person or an idiot driving think before you comment♂️♂️ Wonder if people will comment the same as you have if god forbid you had an accident must mean you a old idiot driver to yes ??
Not everyone is experienced enough to do that. Also these things can happen so quickly you don’t have the time to react.
Everyone nearby has apparently got the memo to stand out on street corners in massive groups to watch this…. unsure about the 2m rule??
At least it was this lady alone, and not someone driving into the large group of kids who have been sitting in the road painting and drawing with chalk. Slightly concerned when I have to drive around the children sat in the road to get to my house…
Oh stop being a grumpy old git oh and some of the people who where on the corner live on the street and need to get to the house they live in but however moving of the car and the traffic meant it wasn’t the best time to cross the road so why don’t you think before you comment
When I kids are chalking out side our house we keep the 2m distance and only 6 people at a time and if a car comes we move on to the pavement with plenty of time… and the poor young girl who crashed made the right choice to go into our wall and not another vehicle
Someone is in a foul mood 😉
Cramp in the foot…makes a change – many Island drivers seem to get cramp in the head…
So does this fall under a genuine medical episode or more bad driving on the Isle of Wight?
Or just take your foot off the accelerator or seriously just slam on breaks, if you get hit from behind then its the other person’s fault,
Glad no-one was hurt that’s the main thing. Everyone stretch those fingers and toes.
Don’t we know the lock down has finished
How does cramp in one foot affect the ability to steer a car?
