The 2023 Festival of Heroes event has been cancelled as a result of forecasted bad weather set to hit the Island this weekend.
Forecasted gusts of up to 50mph have forced event organisers to make the ‘heart-breaking decision’ to cancel the popular event which was set to be held this Saturday (22nd July).
It was just last week that organisers announced that the event was to move the venue from Brading Roman Villa to County Showground in Cowes after the initial venue became ‘unexpectedly unusable’.
It is said that once the winds are over 24mph then bouncy castles, vintage rides, bike display teams cannot run. Those in charge of the event also said that their insurance becomes ‘invalid’ if they proceed over a ‘safe’ level.
A Festival of Heroes spokesperson has said:
“We understand that this is less than ideal but we have looked at many forecasts and they are all lining up to the same thing as you can see below.”
Festival of Heroes is the latest event to be cancelled after the Pier2Pier swim was postponed until August earlier today (Thursday).
Event organisers have urged those with wristbands to keep hold of them for the next event. Although a date is not yet confirmed.
