Wildlife conservationist and zoo biologist Martyn Ridgley has joined the Hillbans Pest Control team, bringing his expertise to the business and extending their already extensive capability in working to support the Island’s native wildlife.
Martyn is passionate about conservation and that it should be at the forefront of wildlife management and pest control, something he has promoted throughout his 20-year career in animal care and conservation.
As a conservation teacher and zookeeper Martyn has inspired many across the country to embrace an ethos of bringing biodiversity and environmental management to where they live.
Sandra Knowles, Managing Director of Hillbans, comments:
“I am really pleased to welcome Martyn to our team. As an animal management professional, he has a passion for the environment and a wealth of experience focused on the care of mammals, insects, fish and birds. His knowledge and experience will assist in developing our work in an even more environmentally conscious way, to the benefit of our customers and the islands environment.”
In addition, senior technician Patrick Knowles has joined the prestigious British Pest Control Association’s wildlife panel, a group which seeks to ensure that best practice decisions and guidelines for the industry are made to the benefit of native wildlife whilst ensuring that target species are dealt with effectively.

Pests.? What pests.!? Humans are pests….
This guy will likely save all the rats, mice, flees and roaches, and release them elsewhere when no one is looking if he loves all creatures. They can’t help being born a rat
Guess that includes yourself then?
Yes.. Including myself.. Duh….
So you’ve hired someone who pretends to be a wildlife lover that happily kills wildlife?
Are you all pretending to be pest controllers as well?
I wouldn’t trust this company.
If your paid to kill rats that’s what I want you to do! Not pretend to!
Absolute farce of a company!
Teresa May pretended to try to leave the EU in name only. Hence the mess we are now in.
You literally have no idea what he’s doing there. Moron. Do you have any idea what direction the company are moving in? Hence taking on a conservation scientist? Clearly not? Someone with experience in biodiversity looks at the bigger picture, all wildlife angles, not just “Lets kill rats!” God you’re stupid.
You’ve taken on an amazing member of staff who really knows his stuff! Congratulations Martyn you will ace it.
