WI LADIES ENJOY A VERY SPECIAL DAY OUT AT MORTON MANOR

Over 150 WI ladies from across the Isle of Wight enjoyed a whole day private visit to Morton Manor last Friday (23rd August), by the kind invitation of the owners, Pat and George Godliman. Everyone who explored the beautiful 5-acre estate, was entranced by the tranquil lake, rose gardens, woodland, magnificent flower beds, streams and ponds. In another part of the garden, opposite the expansive lawns, the WI ladies did what they do best – they provided a mountain of cakes and other goodies to go with the tea and coffee efficiently served by Pat and her helpers. Lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut, fruit loaf, muffins and sausage rolls were among the huge selection baked and donated by the ladies. A raffle, with impressive garden-related prizes, was also held. In addition, the ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition was very popular. Half of the money raised by the WI from refreshments was donated to the National Garden Scheme, and the rest will be put towards offering future activities and events for our Island WIs.
