Police have launched a wide scale search of Firestone Copse near Havenstreet over concerns for the welfare of an individual this evening (Wednesday).
8 vehicles have descended on the rural spot situated between Wootton and Havenstreet in a bid to locate the male.
A dog unit is being used in an effort to pick up a scent and direction of travel.
As darkness falls the challenge is greater for the large number of officers in attendance, with the assistance of search and rescue resources likely to be called in should initial efforts fail to locate the individual.
Tonight is set to be another bitterly cold night across the Isle of Wight, with parts of nearby Wootton Creek frozen in places.
UPDATE @ 19:42 – The gentleman has been found safe and well and is now back at home.

I do believe that the male was saved and ok no harm doen so sad to see the worldwide pandemic has brought people to do this sort of thing.
