Concerns for the welfare of an individual seen near the cliff edge on Culver Down led to a multi-agency response earlier this evening (Tuesday).
At around 18:00, Police and paramedics responded to the East Wight beauty spot amid concerns for an individual seen on the cliff top.
HM Coastguard also responded to the incident with Bembridge RNLI lifeboat launched to provide observation from the seaward side – as well as any other assistance as required.
The inshore lifeboat soon hit the water and made best speed to the vicinity of Whitecliff Bay.
After a shoreline search around to Yaverland, it was confirmed that the individual was safely with Police at the top of Culver.
It’s understood the person has since been taken to hospital.
