A number of early morning Red Jet crossings have been cancelled for tomorrow (Wednesday) due to a lack of available crew, it has been announced tonight.
Red Funnel says that it has been forced to pull 6 timetabled sailings as a result of the staff shortages.
The 06:05, 07:15 and 08:25 crossings from Southampton have all been cancelled alongside the 06:40, 07:50 and 09:00 crossings from West Cowe.
The cross-Solent operator apologise for any inconvenience to your journey.

In the words of ivy searle, tarmac it. I doubt they will comment, because they just hate trains. Let’s hope red funnel can sort it for Thursday. Nobody plans to be sick
Staff numbers cut to the bone. Moral is non-existent. A complete shambles.
I used to travel to work in Southampton on the old hydrofoils. In two years of daily travel, I don’t recall that my journey was cancelled due to staff shortages. The only time travel was postponed was due to fog.
Just goes to show that despite a recent decent pay rise they still cannot recruit and keep existing staff. Perhaps they should look much higher than middle management and find out what the reason is. I suspect that their attitude to core staff, shift patterns and the abuse that I have witnessed the “front line” staff receive when I have travelled when problems occur all contribute to the reluctance to work for them.
And sick pay will play a role in that.
They obviously get full sick pay or the staff would keep throwing sickies
Try being self employed they think twice then or the first 2 days you don’t get paid for that stop a few
That is so true of companies like this and the NHS and Civil service…
Why does a brewery come to mind when I see articles about this company, are you sure they don’t run the floating bridge as well?
And just think they were up for awards ,,, total let down bad planning award they get first prize
One more good reason I’m moving back to the mainland. These bloody ferry companies! I will not miss them!
