Local weather forecaster IW Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for rain with heavy downpours set to move in across the Island this evening (Monday). The warning is in force between 20:00 on New Year’s Day until 16:00 on Tuesday 2nd January. It is forecast that 2 areas of heavy rainfall will affect the Island over the next 36 hours with widespread rainfall totals of around 20-30mm expected. In some areas it could be as high as 40mm. Drivers are advised to take care when driving in such conditions owing to the large amount of surface water – especially on rural roads – that may be present. Flooding in all the usual areas may also occur.
