As temperatures plummet today (Monday), local weather forecaster IW Met Service has issued a weather warning for ice with snow also possible across the Island this afternoon. The warning is in place from 16:00 this afternoon until 11:00 on Tuesday morning. IW Met Service has warned that throughout today we may see a few snow showers move through and these will make surfaces wet where they fall, also we still have a lot of run-off water from the recent rains, especially in more rural parts and this could well lead to some icy stretches on some roads and walkways with the risk of invisible “Black Ice”. Those using the roads during the period of the warning are urged to take care.

More bad drivers ahead.. Maybe issue a warning about them instead than worry about the weather.
Find me a good driver in black ice Ted, that’s a ridiculous statement you made .
A good driver will drive to the conditions, a bad driver, i.e.. a typical Isle of Wight driver, will in icy conditions either panic and brake or ignore the conditions and drive as normal. The recent floods are testament to the general inconsiderate and poor standard of driving on the island.
A good driver would not find themselves in or on black ice. And even when it’s extremely icy and one has no choice but to drive, a good driver will coupe. For example the bus driver showing all how to do it as he drives up Saltburn Bank.
Ted is not wrong dear. These youngsters have their stereo wireless sets on in their motor cars and the heater on and seem to forget about the outside conditions.
The more comfortable motor cars become, very quiet, even at high speeds of 40 or more and having seat belts and air cushions and bright headlamp bulbs, the more invincible the drivers feel they are.
But the tyres cold, wet, and hard contacting just a few inches of slippery frozen road care nothing for the interior comforts isolating the occupants and keeping them in blissful ignorance, until they crash and the exterior world comes crashing through the screen.
Having been driving a good few decades and alot on mainland, I can tell you that a good driver atticipates the conditions and drives with care, black ice is only a problem if to fast or sudden swearing (steering) or braking. Ted is correct most Island driver’s struggle keeping car on road at best of times!. Last two weeks when temp above 10° they had the above Ice signs out,but they have gone now yet in next few day’s there may well be ice. Driver’s beware and slow down and keep distance.
You can’t educate most island drivers, they are braindead….
Then why are you still living here , so much criticism of islanders yet you live among us . The mind boggles.
Your mind is well and truly boggled, I drive among idiots like you every day, and I can see for myself that our roads are full of idiots like you….
All the James Hunts on the island better slow down!!!!!!
Are you talking about island drivers. the bloody lot of you can’t drive in the dry. your all as bad makes me think did you lot ever have driving tests over there
Driving tests are for the snow flake overners. We have balls over here and take our lives in our own hands. Stop being such a wet lipped handed liberal.
Unfortunately you are just one of the braindead island drivers, you have many friends just like you on our roads…..If you ever loose a loved one, God forbid, you may have a better understanding…
Sick to death of old idiots flashing me because they think I have full beam on.
