The organisers of Isle of Wight Pride 2023 have cancelled this weekend’s event due to a poor weather forecast, admitting that ‘safety is of paramount importance’.
As previously reported by Island Echo, strong gusts of wind of up to 65mph are expected to hit the Island this weekend – right in the middle of the 2023 Isle of Wight Pride festivities.
As a result of the forecast and the yellow wind warning issued by the Met Office, the team behind the event are working with sponsors to hopefully hold the event on the weekend of the 18th, 19th and 20th August.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Pride has said:
“It is with a heavy heart we regret to announce Isle of Wight Pride, including the parade, will be postponed and not take place this weekend. With a yellow weather warning in place, we have taken this decision due to safety concerns. But never fear, Isle of Wight Pride will go ahead this year!”
“We apologise for any inconvenience but safety is of paramount importance.”
What, like scooter rally, carnivals, cycle events?
Yes exactly, far too many! It used to be a fair argument to say ‘oh it’s only once a year,’ but now ever other week there’s something taking over the Island.
So when are we going to have a heterosexual pride march or would that be seen as discriminatory, perhaps if people just treated each other with resect and let them get on with their lives as they want we wouldn’t need this farce each year, before you say anything i have quite a few gay friends and all of them say their lives have been made more difficult by the woke screechings of the lgb “community”
Straight people are very much free to set up a straight pride event if they wish. Who are you waiting for to set it up? Just go for it! It wouldn’t be seen as discriminatory at all.
Sorry don’t necessarily agree with pride but carnivals etc no problem to close roads it’s not that bad for a few hours been happening for years .so why not continue
