The Waverley Park Holiday Centre in East Cowes has concluded its annual ‘Beer Poetry Music and More Beer Festival’ with a record-breaking total of £10,742.09 raised for the British Heart Foundation.
The popular event, held on 12th-14th September, was dedicated to the memory of the park’s original founder Peter Adams, who died from a heart attack 10 years ago. Now in its 13th year, the festival drew crowds for a weekend of music, poetry, and community spirit, with more than 2,000 pints served.
Highlights included performances by The Lords, Baggy Wrinkles and Texus, alongside comedy poetry from Happy Jon. A magician and other local acts also entertained the crowds.
Julian Adams, owner of Waverley Park Holiday Centre, has said:
“This festival has become the institution it is today because of the hard work and dedication of so many people. With the sad loss of my father Peter in mind, we wanted what might potentially be the last event in our stewardship to be a special tribute to the man who took on the park in 1999.
Local businesses played their part in supporting the festival, with Island Ales donating a barrel of Earl’s RDA, Rockhopper Sounds providing sound engineering, and Solent Security offering their services free of charge on Saturday.
The money raised will support the British Heart Foundation’s life-saving research and its work helping people living with heart and circulatory conditions.
