That sixth member of the 2016 side is the son of former referee Robbie Perks, who now lives with his wife on the Gold Coast in Australia.
The teenager is currently wintering in Australia having rode for the Cradley Heathens in last year’s National League. Perks has also had 7 outings for the Scunthorpe Scorpions in the 2015 Premier League.
Ellis Perks said:
“I’m really glad to have signed for the Isle of Wight for 2016, they are a new club with big intentions much like myself. They have welcomed me with open arms to ride for them this season, which is an important season for both myself and the club as we want to really establish ourselves and make our make on National League speedway.
“I would like to thank all the management including Barry and Martin for sorting all my needs and I look forward to an exciting and successful season with the lads.”
Commenting on the arrival on Ellis to the Warriors, Barry Bishop said:
“Martin and I are so excited to have Ellis in the 2016 Wightlink Warriors line up. I have spoken a lot with him over the last week or so, and we believe this will be a big year for him. Ellis rounded off a great season last year and this year we hope to see Ellis continue his improvement and take his career up a gear. We have worked with him to set personal and team targets and because he is young, exciting, determined and ready to make an impact in 2016, we are sure he will achieve them.
“Welcome to the Warriors Ellis.”
