The IW Meteorological Service have issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain and gusty winds tonight (Thursday) and overnight into Friday morning.
Local forecasters say that an active cold front will cross the Island during the early hours of the morning. As the front moves through we can expect some strong gusty winds and a spell of heavy rain, possibly torrential, with the risk of hail mixed in.
The wind gusts on the passage of the heaviest rain may reach up to 70mph from the south or southwest before quickly turning westerly and dropping back a little with gusts at around 55 to 60mph for a few hours.
The warning is in force from 21:00 until 06:00.
