WALL COLLAPSE AT RYDE CHARITY SHOP PROMPTS FIRE SERVICE CALL OUT

Firefighters have been called to the High Street in Ryde this evening (Monday) where part of a charity shop building has collapsed.

Inspections are being carried out at the British Red Cross shop, where a wall to the rear of the building has given way.

1 appliance from Ryde and a duty officer were mobilised to the scene at just gone 18:00. It comes as strong winds and driving rain lashes the Island.

No one has been injured and no other properties in the terraced row appear to be affected.

Staff at the charity shop are aware of the situation and are present.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has contacted the Isle of Wight Council about the situation.

Good to see the Fire Service attending such incidents, maybe in
future they will help out with floods.

Sadly they only do landslides and walls falling down flooding isn’t covered sorry

Sorry, flooding can’t be delt with, the Tories cut spending so much we don’t have enough. So it’s just first come first service. If you want real emergency support then make sure the Tories don’t get elected again. Anyone is better that those bunch of criminals.

Fire fighters start on £28k and this rises to £36k after a couple of years. Good job they all have extra work on the side when they have all of those days off.
