A survey of Floating Bridge Saver Card holders will be undertaken over the next 8 weeks as part of the Isle of Wight Council’s ambitions to improve customer experiences on the link between Cowes and East Cowes.
The survey will be emailed to over 5,000 Saver Card holders and the consultation will end on 19th September.
Councillor Phil Jordan, Cabinet member for transport and infrastructure, said:
“We value the opinion of residents who use the floating bridge and we are currently looking to obtain the views of people who use the service on a regular basis, therefore we are undertaking a survey of Saver Card holders.
“These regular travellers have continued to use the service over the past 12 months despite the difficult circumstances that have faced the nation as we recover from COVID restrictions.
“The survey will allow us to better understand their use of the floating bridge and their perceptions of the service provided. We also very much welcome their thoughts on how the service can be improved.
“We will use the information obtained through the consultation to gauge the current impression of the service and will evaluate all suggestions to improve the service implementing these wherever practically possible”.

They will get more answers asking the launch users. There’s a lot more of them.
i for one will not use the wight elephant. then is breaks down half way across
Probably because the loyalty of those saver card users won’t be so critical in the survey, with constant shortages of staff available to crew the chain ferry etc.
Another “survey” designed to return the answers they want to hear.
They ask whether a respondent would be interested in joining a user panel but then forget to ask for a name/contact details. But perhaps it’s not actually anonymous…
So only the saver card holders will be polled. The other 1,000’s of users view are not important then?
Pathetic, as usual. No surprises there.
Got my survey request yesterday and completed it straight away, they won’t like my answers and I doubt that it will change a thing, knowing how our council totally ignore public wishes or opinions. And why were there so many intrusive personal questions in the survey?
Don’t think they need to do a survey as the simple answer is – make it work all the time would be good!
Unreliable waste of money, stick that on your survey form.
How I laughed when I read the headline, I think the best customer service would be to scrap it.
Your comments always make me laugh
How about getting a vessel that is actually capable of running the service so regulars can enjoy an experience on a regular reliable basis
This sounds like they are determined to keep throwing our money at it, scrap it and get a working one designed by a proper naval architect and have it built by a competent boatbuilder to match the dimensions of the old ferries, you know the ones that worked
usually the purpose of such surveys in a nutshell is:
“are you willing to pay more for a better service?”
if more than half say yes or perhaps then we can justify a price rise
was it on there folks?
If it’s going to be this slow then it should run to a timetable, pathetic service
I’m amazed that transporting my 60kg costs £1.50 but transporting 2060kg costs only £2.50 – that’s some amazing scaling.
Meanwhile in many small places around the world I’d just get a pedestrian/bike bridge to use for free. British infrastructure is so unbelievably bad and everyone is chipping in majority of their tax to benefit car owners. This, free storage of private property on roads (but only one type, don’t try to use it as a storage for your fridge or you will be fined!), many places with roads but no pavements because humans don’t need protection, unlike 2000kg+ pieces of metal that do – talk about net benefit takers.
Best way to improve the customers experience is to keep it running for more than 3 days at a time!
Well I would like to comment but have not actually managed to use the service, it has always let me down so why would I have a card?
