Ventnor’s iconic The Royal Hotel looks set to change hands as it has been put on the open market for an undisclosed sum.
Specialist business property advisor, Christie & Co, are responsible for the sale of the grand hotel, which dates back to 1832.
This highly successful Island hotel has been independently owned and operated by William Bailey since 1994. William has been responsible for substantially upgrading the hotel’s facilities and expanding the range of services on offer to guests which has significantly widened its customer base.
William now feels the time is right as custodian of the hotel to step back and hand over to new owners, to further develop and enhance this highly successful business for the future.
Featuring 51-bedrooms and extensive function facilities, The Royal has built a renowned reputation as 1 of the pre-eminent hotels on the Isle of Wight. It was originally known as Fishers Hotel but became known as The Royal Hotel after enjoying Queen Victoria’s patronage.
Commenting on the decision to sell, William has said:
“Whilst it is of course sad to be selling a business with which we have been involved for the last 29 years now is the right time. We wish a new buyer every success during their ownership of this wonderful hotel in a beautiful part of the Isle of Wight. Most importantly we would like to thank the staff, with whom we have shared this memorable journey, for their hard work and dedication over the years.”

Lovely hotel. I stayed there some years ago. Nowadays my pension wouldn’t allow me to stay a night never mind buy it
