The Environment Agency has been working to clear vegetation along the lower reaches of the Eastern Yar ahead of the Winter months.
Contractors Brighstone Landscaping deployed teams to the Alverstone area earlier this week to carry out the vital maintenance.
The work carried out will help the very low gradient river flow more freely.
The Eastern Yar is often put under a flood alert following periods of heavy rainfall, with flooding experience in and around Alverstone on several occasions.
