Police have been called to a single vehicle crash on the outskirts of Brading this morning (Saturday) in which a van has collided with a concrete wall.
The incident has occurred on Rowborough Lane and has seen a Harsco Rail-branded Renault Kangoo crash head-on into the railway bridge structure near the junction with Carpenters Road.
The occupants of the vehicle – a man, a woman and their dog – have escaped any serious injury but are being checked over by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service who happened to be passing and took the running call.
The crash happened at around 05:30. It’s unclear how it occurred, but no other vehicles are thought to be involved.
Rowborough Lane remains open in both directions under give-and-take.
Harsco Rail is a global supplier for railway track maintenance and construction management.
UPDATE – Police have confirmed that no injuries have been sustained and no offences identified.

Nasty bit of road through here only an experienced driver like me can take this bridge with speed. You must slow down on this severe bend no more than 60 on the bridge (we’re not on Beaper Shoot you know)Slow down you muppets your forcing my insurance up again.
What ya talking about, I took that fine at 65MPH in my camper no probs. And that was whilst looking at my phone for directions for the camping site. The driver, like most van drivers, had his C&&K in his hand.

The dog leapt into the driver’s lap. That will be why.

Almost certainly to be blamed on mechanical failure , i remember the last one where they
cried car failure and it turned out to be crap driving.
This is a work vehicle. Why have they got uncle tom cobley and all travelling in it? Hopefully insurance wont cover it as the scammer is evidently using his work vehicle to take his dog for an early morning walk at the duver. Tom tit more like.
well now the main work at Ryde is completed got to find a project and bridge repairs. NO!!! Big shock for the dog hope a nice bone and a fun walk will settle it .
