VAN AND MOTORCYCLE COLLIDE ON BRADING DOWNS

UPDATED: Police and paramedics are attending a crash between a small van and a motorcycle on Brading Downs Road this morning (Friday).

No one has been seriously injured in the incident, which has occurred at the view point car parks. Emergency services were alerted at around 07:30.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have 1 Ambulance in attendance with paramedics checking over the motorcyclist.

The driver of the second vehicle involved, a red Citoren Belingo van, has escaped injury. The vehicle has sustained damage to the offside front wheel.

Although the road is blocked in both directions traffic is still able to divert around the scene via the car park when heading towards Newport. The road has been closed heading towards Brading from the junction with Ashey Road.

UPDATE @ 08:27 – 1 male motorcyclist is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for further treatment.

The road is expected to re-open shortly following recovery of the vehicles.
