lushingtonhillTwo busy sections of main road in Wootton are due to be resurfaced shortly by Island Roads.

A 1km section of Station Road from the Woodman’s Arms pub to the Cedars Pub at the junction with Wootton High Street is due to be resurfaced between 16th-23rd June. In addition, a 1.2km stretch of Lushington Hill between the Racecourse and Palmers Road is due to be resurfaced between 3rd-9th.

In order to minimise disruption to road users, work on both sections will be undertaken at night and re-opened during the day. Diversions will be in place to allow the works to be undertaken as swiftly and as safely as possible.

Island Roads service director Paul Herbert, said:

“We have recently undertaken high profile improvement schemes at Arreton and Whippingham and the forthcoming work in Wootton will further underline our commitment to improving the quality of the Island’s strategic roads.

“Obviously given the nature of these roads, this improvement work cannot be undertaken without some disruption but we will make every effort to keep this to a minimum and thank residents and road users in advance for their patience and understanding while this work is in progress”.
