UPDATED: Island Line services between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin have been suspended this morning (Monday) due to the breakdown of a train near Sandown.
One of the aging 1930s former underground trains has developed a fault on the single line section in the Sandown area. As a result of this the line is currently blocked in both directions.
Engineers are working to get the stricken train on its way again with disruption is expected to last until 12:30.
UPDATE @ 12:37 – Services have now resumed between Ryde and Shanklin, albeit on an hourly service.
Trains will depart from Shanklin at xx:18 and from Ryde Pier Head at xx:49.
It is hoped a normal scheduled service will resume from around 13:30 this afternoon.
