A tractor and car have collided on the main road through Arreton this afternoon (Thursday), resulting not only in significant damage but travel delays too.
The incident – which took place at just before 15:00 – has occurred at the junction of Down End Road and Arreton Road and has involved a John Deere tractor and an Audi estate.
It appears the tractor – with a vegetable picker attachment on the front and towing a Staples trailer behind – has crossed the give way markings at the busy junction. As a result, a grey Audi has made contact with the front attachment on the nearside.
The Audi’s windscreen and A-pillar have taken the brunt of the impact.
Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported.
Police and paramedics are on scene with traffic building in the area.
UPDATE @ 15:45 – The incident has now been cleared with debris swept from the carriageway.
Emergency services are also responding to a road traffic collision between Whitwell and Ventnor this afternoon.
A Ford Fiesta and a Nissan X-Trail have been involved in a crash on Whitwell Road, near Dean Farm. The X-Trail has ended up in a ditch at the side of the carriageway.
Police received reports of the incident at just before 14:45.

These roads are where the 20 mph should be ,, where the accidents always are not York Avenue as when was the last time there was an incident on York Ave mmmm
reducing speed limit here would just make it easy picking for catching anyone speeding.
money making task ! No safety reason behind it at all .
Adelaide grove would be best as parked cars always full on both sides of the road making it very hard for pedestrians to cross safely
I have been saying for ages 20mph is needed
on the island and thankfully it is finally going to
happen, but it MUST be Policed, because many
Numpty motorists will still break the law.
Lengthy bans and massive fines will STOP
Speeding motorists.
Melly, if it makes sense, then forget it. It might cost a few quid to set these safety things up, but then again, how much is a life worth today, sadly, very little.
more shit driving ..cant drive dont drive..
Here Here. So many idiots on our Roads.
No,, totally agree with 20 mph road safety but in the right places not for a money making scheme
Just putting up 20mph signs ain’t the answer.
Idiot motorists will still speed.
Khan’s London has all the correct Camera’s in place
to fine the B’stards who speed.
