A thunderstorm that rolled up through the English Channel brought minimal disruption to the Isle of Wight last night (Saturday).
No major weather-related incidents have been reported on the Island, however a number of homes and businesses in the Newport, Rookley and Merstone areas were without electricity for a few hours when lightning knocked out supplies.
The humid and muggy conditions have been somewhat reduced overnight bringing much more comfortable conditions for Islanders.
The Met Office had forecast a rather washout Bank Holiday weekend with torrential rain, but the Isle of Wight seems to have escaped the worst of the weather.
